Hi Everyone,

I am new to this site but have gone thru most of the threads.

Can you guys help me underline a few "pointers" on how to narrow down your search to a School?

I already have an MBA from an A-rated B-School in India, but would like to add an international MBA for various reasons.. I completed my Engg from A-rated Engineering school.. and have 4 years of Work-ex now.

Am planning to apply for 2008.

~Thanks in advance.

One factor that will help you weed out schools: some don't allow students who already have an MBA.

Aside from that, figure out what is most important to you in a school, and start with that. I knew I wanted a place with a strong social enterprise curriculum. I looked at rankings specific to these programs and started with a pretty big list of about 35. Some SE programs focused more on environmental issues, which isn't my bag of tricks. This got my list down to about 16. From there, I considered my secondary priorities: location, size, cultural fit, etc. I got down to about 8, and then applied to schools based more on whether I felt my particular profile would be well received by the adcom and what "feel" I got from the schools. I took care to choose one back-up, a few probable/possibles, and one stretch. (Though in the end I ran out of time and didn't apply to the stretch.)

You should note that I tended to have a less quantitative approach to my MBA journey than others on this site. I also have a fairly unique profile and have found that my reasons for getting an MBA vary in some pretty basic ways from the reasons of my fellow 'clubbers. You'll notice that I barely mentioned rank and didn't mention career placement or remuneration.

There are certain essays that you can bank on, like most schools will ask you, "Why do you want to go to our school?" and you'll almost always be asked, "Why do you want an MBA? What will you do after you graduate?"

If you get a head start and write essays in response to those questions, you'll be way ahead when the actual applications are released.

Hi aaudetat

Thanks a TON... To take this forward, anyone in the club who has prior MBA and wishes to complete another.. We can share our strategies together...

My Goals for a B School..

1. It should be a 1 Yr/1.5 Yr program.
2. Preferable in US/ 2nd Option Europe..
3. Among the TOP 15.

Can anyone point me to the TOP 1 year B-Schools in US/Europe.. and (am asking for quite a lot!) list of schools who don't accept students with prior MBA??
