Recs: Accounting professor, and work rec
Work Exp: 1 year Big 4 audit, 5 months corporate accounting at very large corporation.
Additional: Passed CPA on first try.

I forgot to mention in my last post that I am also an international student.

Dawgie, may I ask why you're interested in getting a MAcc, even when you already passed the CPA exam and had Big 4 exp?
Since I thought most MAcc applicants are college undergrads seeking to satisfy that 150-credit-hour rule to sit for the CPA.
Btw, good luck on your GMAT! This forum was of tremendous help to me when I studied for it.

Unfortunately, I do not have 150 credits and I got laid off from Big 4 before I could obtain the necessary experience needed for my state certification. WIth an MSA, I can become certified without any experience in my respective state. In addition, I would like to use the recruiting + CPA + CFA to land me a valuation job at Big 4 or other major valuation firm.

Sorry to hear that. I thought your stats are very solid.
I haven't even completed my application for Notre Dame yet and this certainly worries me.
I wish you good luck too for other programs.
Hope to hear back from more people.

Hey guys,

I'm applying to many of the same programs as you, Notre Dame, UT, Illinois, BYU, etc, and I'm wondering what you all think of the costs associated with these programs. For example, I, as I assume most of you, have a local, in-state option, possibly from your undergraduate institution, where you could go and fulfill the CPA requirement. I'm kind of struggling with why spend the extra money to go to a big name program when the big 4 firms recruit virtually everywhere and I will probably end up with the same job no matter where I go. I'm telling myself I may receive a better education/ alumni network at these places, but I do not know for sure. What do you guys think?
