Launched in 2004, the Columbia Africa Conference (CAC), formerly the Africa Economic Forum, is the largest Africa-focused event at Columbia University and is a student-led collaboration between Columbia Business School and the greater Columbia Africa community. This year, African students at Barnard College, Columbia College, Columbia Law School, Columbia Engineering, and SIPA will all play a role in bringing the conference to life! Over the years, the conference has been an occasion for top business executives, thought leaders, and politicians to discuss key topics affecting the continent, while providing a rich learning and networking experience for speakers, businesses, and attendees alike.
We are bound by a common thread that connects us to our beautiful continent. As we reflect on the last 20 years of building an African community at Columbia, our journey has been one of resilience, courage, and tenacity. Despite the differences that separate us, we remain united by our shared history, culture, and identity. It is incumbent upon us to recognize the power and potential that lie in strengthening our ties.
Our 20th annual conference is a testament to the power of unity, where Africans dispersed across the globe come together to explore, share, and amplify the potential embedded in our collective experiences. The theme, "Strengthening Our Ties," encapsulates the essence of our journey – rekindling bonds, fostering collaboration, and igniting the flames of progress.
