Background
Education:
Won multiple national and international engineering awards pre-18
Undergrad GPA was 3.7 (2:1, UK) reading Biological Sciences. 2011-2014
Went straight into a PhD with a fully funded 4-year scholarship . Essentially an applied statistics/computer vision project in the field of agriculture (pardon the pun). 2014-2018
Published multiple first author papers, with one receiving multiple awards.
Work Experience:
2 failed start-up's over the course of uni education (consumer product and uncertainty quantification)
4 month, London based Internship at a science start up incubator. Provided expertise and commercial insights.
Consulted for multi national agriculture services company ~2 years
Consulted/licensed trading algorithms to a smallish hedge fund. April '18 - present
Started my own algorithmic trading company, trade my own plus others money. Decent returns since 2019.
Extra curriculars:
Ran the largest student income fund (~£250k)in Europe for final year of PhD
In the process of joining the Army Reserves as an Officer (Covid-19 pending)
Elected student representative for scholarship program
Presented some of my PhD research on popular TV show
Play cricket with local clubs, but played American football in the UK uni system for 5 years, 2 as a committee member
Write comedy things, perform a few.

Thanks for sharing your profile with us. You certainly come from a very unique non-traditional background as far as MBA applicants are concerned -- this can become a distinct advantage if you can make a compelling case to admissions committees (AdComs) about why you now believe an MBA is the right degree for you, and why now is the right time in your career. However, the flip side of the same coin is that your work will be cut out for you in terms of explaining why you now want to study business when you already have a PhD in a completely non-business-related field.
For you, the key will be a blockbuster set of essays that weave together the quite disparate threads of your journey since university and that clearly show AdComs why they ought to invest in you as a member of their MBA class. You have some very different experiences and interests that don't seem obviously connected at first glance (biology, agriculture, cancer research, algorithmic trading) -- while it's certainly not a sin to have varied interests, you need to present a coherent picture of who you are, so that it doesn't look like you're all over the map or unfocused. How have these disparate experiences led you to want to pursue an MBA now? Also, your stated post-MBA goals are also extremely different -- curing cancer and starting a mega fund may not sound realistic for a single person to achieve, so you may want to give more thought to what "side" of your career goals you want to present to AdComs. How would an MBA serve to accelerate your career towards either of those goals? Arguably cancer research doesn't require an MBA, nor does trading. Why do you believe otherwise?
