Hi pairakesh10,

I noticed that you posted this another Forum, so I pasted over my response from there.....

Many Test Takers use a variety of resources during their studies, so the fact that you did so does not necessarily explain the issues that you're having. What you really need a consistent way to 'see' (and respond to) the GMAT. If you're not consistent with your tactics, then you're not likely to score at a high level on Test Day. You also seem to understand some of the mistakes that you made with your first round of studies, so you should be able to better plan for this next round and practice in a more effective way.

Before you invest in any new materials, I'd like to know more about your studies so far and your goals:
1) How long did you study before taking the GMAT the first time?
2) When is your next Test Date?

3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) Do you know which Schools you want to apply to?

Hi Rich,
Thank you for your response. I was told to post my questions in General Gmat section.
Anyways, yes, I would like to plan better this and achieve my goal.
1) I studied for around 3 months. Since I am out of school from 7 years, I had difficulty in concentrating and I did not have patience to sit in any sessions for 2+ hours (e.g, egmat verbal sessions)
2) I have not yet booked my 2nd test date.
3) I am planning to join for Part time program and want to apply for Spring 2016 classes.
4) I have few in mind like UT-D, UT-A. But i am basically looking for schools which provide the FT degree for PT program. I hope you understand what I mean.

Thank you for your time.

Hi pairakesh10,

Using your Official GMAT Score for comparison purposes, and considering your goal score, you need to improve 200+ points. That will require some significant work and you have to 'fix' all of the issues that you acknowledged in your posts, which will take some time and effort. All things considered, I think that you will probably need another 2-3 months of consistent, guided study to hit your Goal Score.

That timeline will impact when you apply, so you have to consider the various Round 2 application deadlines (Round 1 is not really a practical option at this point). Starting from today, you would still have plenty of time to study and work on your applications, but you have to be diligent and organized to get everything done on time.

How many hours can you spend on your studies during a typical week?

Hi Rich,
I agree with you that I need to put lot of effort to reach my target score. I dont mind applying for round 2 and as of now my Gmat date will be sometime dec end or jan 1st week. With my working schedule, I can study 3 hours on weekdays and 6-7 hours during weekends.

Hi pairakesh10,

I agree that enrolling in a GMAT Course of some type (either Guided Self-Study or instructor-led) would be a good idea. Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at out site (www.empowergmat.com). I suggest that you take advantage of all of them then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget.

If you have any additional question, then just let me know.
