GMAT is not a battle but a war. You’re winning some of the battles but losing the war.

Your goal on the test is not to answer every single question correctly. That is impossible. You need to accept the fact that you cannot solve every single question in the amount of time you want to take. You are already skipping and guessing questions at the end.

Instead, set time goals and stick to them.

Hi Shwarma,

Do you find that anxiety may be affecting you when taking your practice exams?
This is insightful
I thought nervousness during mocks was a good thing...
uhmm maybe I can build more confidence with more practice qs too.

Fair I agree
I tend to get into an escalation of commitment bias once I start on qs.
I will try to forgo qs, once I know I cannot get a hang of them (esp in CR, and quant)
and work on these qs post-mock as a weakness area.
Thanks for the insight!

Your problem is not questions but timing.

The decision to move on should not be made whether you can solve the question or not but whether you have the time to keep trying to solve it. You should be aware of how much time you have left during each sections of the test.

For example, you can split each of the sections into 3-4 parts. For example, data insights you have 20 questions and so you can be 6,7,7. This means you have 15 minutes to solve the first six questions and then 1515 minutes to solve the second 7questions and then 15 minutes to solve the last seven questions.

Question seven you should have 30 minutes left and at question 13 you should have 15 minutes left. These are your goal posts. You should be naturally following them but then you want to check the time at those markers and immediately know if you need to speed up or if you can take a breath. For verbal and data insights, you have longer segments because of breeding comprehension and multisource reasoning. they mess with your timing but you can figure out how to balance those.
