Hi!!
I am from Brazil and graduated from highschool 7 years ago, just started studying for GMAT and took Magoosh test and my score was 450 :(

math 24 ( was not able to finish because of time, missed around 8 questions)
Verbal 29

I do have 7 months to study and my resources are: magoosh and OG. I am having trouble to answer the questions in less than 2 minutes and I really do not know how to work on my study plan. I want to focus in math first and then verbal.

Any suggestion???

I think you need to revise the strategies from Magoosh and keep practicing a lot. Appear for a Gmatprep test to have a more correct assessment of your current level and your strengths and weaknesses. Analyze each question thoroughly and work on your weaknesses. Practice the OG questions in a timed manner. The more you practice your timing will definitely improve.

Hi,

The best thing is that your Verbal score is better than Quant score. GMAT quant is easier to improve than Verbal. So all and all your are much better than others. I would suggest you to try a GMATprep mock from mba.com. This will give you true picture of your level. Magoosh is a good course. First try to complete all the video lessons and then work on the questions available there.

Work on GC quant and verbal forums to enhance your score. We have lots of great moderators on GC, and they can certainly help you to improve your skills.

Hi Thaisfabrini,

You should study for around three months to achieve a good score. It’s a good thing you have taken a GMAT Mock. You now know your weaknesses and work on them. If you are willing to study dedicatedly for 3 months, you are sure to achieve your goal. I believe you may benefit from taking a GMATPREP course.

Your choice of using Magoosh for your preparation is great. Magoosh course is phenomenal and covers the entire syllabus really well. I must add that if you are particularly looking to discover and improve on your weak areas in Quant; a subscription to GMATCLUB tests is the best way to do that. They are indeed phenomenal and will not only pinpoint your weak areas but also help you improve on them.

Also for verbal, I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market.

Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have a good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

I would also encourage you to purchase the latest version of OG and the verbal review for some great additional practice. Here is a link that will help you with your decision.
