I took the Official GMAT Prep mock and scored 470(Q-39, V-17)
In Quant got 23 correct out of 31 questions and in verbal got 17 correct out of 36 questions.

And break up of number of questions incorrect in
CR-5
RC-8
SC-6

I am sure that I will manage the Quants section and will be able to score in the range of 47-51 but the Verbal seems very difficult for me.

I haven't started preparing for the exam yet I took this test to check my current level. Can anyone help me with how to prepare for Verbal within the span of 75-80 days as I have to appear for the test in the month of August. I am ready to devote around 4-5 hours daily.

And is it possible to score 700+ within such short span of time..?

Hi KeshavLahoti,

Many Test Takers are unhappy with their initial practice scores, but you really shouldn't be. That 470 is just a measure of your skills right now - and you'll improve on that result over time as you learn more about the content, Tactics and little 'secrets' of the Exam. Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so if you're thinking about studying for just 2.5 months, then that might limit how much you can improve. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level. If you're going to stick with this general timeframe though, you will need to be really efficient with your studies going forward.

1) Do you plan to study every day of the week? I only ask because we would not want you to 'burn out' before Test Day (and taking 1 day 'off' per week is generally a good idea)?
2) What study materials do you currently have access to?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi KeshavLahoti,

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. Since you scored V17 on your practice exam you should follow a study plan that allows you to learn GMAT verbal from the ground up. In other words follow a study plan that allows you to learn each GMAT verbal topic individually and then practice each topic until you’ve gained mastery. Certainly, if you want specific advice on how to improve in SC, CR, and RC, feel free to reach out. Regarding your timeline, your August test date may not give you as much time as you need to improve. Is there any way you can take your GMAT at a later date? Lastly, you may find it helpful to read the following article:
