I took my first GMATPrep test and got a 490 after a quick brush up on the GMAT's concepts. I finished the quant with 10 min. still left on the clock. I thought I'd be rushed but realized I wasn't so most of my mistakes were in the first portion. I thought I'd have excess time in the verbal section but was rushed and made most of my mistakes toward the end. My deadline to take the GMAT is in approx. 3 wks and I need at least a 600, is this feasible in the time I have remaining or should I study up and apply next semester?

I think GMAT prep overstates the real score by 30-50 points so you will probably want to score 620-650 on the GMAT prep if you need a 600 on the real thing. Some people say the scores are very accurate. Ultimately, I guess it's how you perform under stress and real timing conditions. 3 weeks would be hard to improve 100+ pts unless it is a matter of timing or careless mistakes. If your problem is a matter of not knowing the concepts then 3 weeks may not be enough time.

Thanks for the input. I'll dig in, practice under timed conditions to iron out the timing issues and retake the diagnostic in a week to see how I fair.
