Also I learned an interesting test taking strategy that really helped me on the second exam.

The idea is that there are no experimental questions in the last 10 problems of a section. Since the GMAT knows people are rushing to finish at the end, they don't want to collect data from that area of the test, so each question is live. So be sure to focus really hard on those questions because they are very likely to count. An added bonus is you also set yourself up to finish on a high note.

Then, I also think there is good reason to make a special effort to try to do well in the first 10 questions too, simply because that's where the testing algorithm is most sensitive. One wrong answer after it has collected data for 1 question will affect your percentile more than one wrong answer after it's collected data for 35 answers. So try hard in the beginning (but not more than 2:30 per question) to set up your base. I know sometimes its out of your control, but its good to keep in mind.

That would then make the middle a good time to be selective if you have to!

Cheers,

Nick

This debrief really, really gives me a lot of inspiration for my studies. I am in the same boat as you were (not very proficient with quant, but verbal is relatively easy). I actually have all the MGMAT guides, and the Foundations of Math book. I almost finished the Number Properties guide, when I started to think that I wasn't really absorbing all the book had to offer. After reading this, I think I'm going to start with the foundations guide and see where that takes me. All the best for your applications, and thanks again for a great post!!!

Is it possible? 45 in verbal counts for so much?
