5 times n is three less than twice n. What number is three less than twice n?

We can represent the equation as 5n = 2n - 3 => 3n = -3 => n =-1

Therefore, 3 less than twice n is 2n - 3 = -5(Option A)

5N = 2N - 3
Hence, N = -1

Question asks for what number is 3 less than twice n, essentially 2N - 3
Substituting N = -1, 2*(-1) - 3 = -5
Answer is A.

(A) -5

(B) -2

(C) -1

(D) 3

(E) 5

5n = 2n - 3

Or, 3n = -3

So, n = -1

= \(2*-1 - 3\)

= \(-5\), Answer will be (A)
