I recently completed my fourth GMAT and I got a 670 (Q44, V38, IR8). I am not quite satisfied with my Quant score as I have scored higher on practice tests before.
The question is whether it’s worth to retake the test for a fifth time, hoping to get a Q46 or Q47 and thus break the 700. (as a disclaimer, I do not take enough practice test...this might have a negative effect on my scores)
I plan to apply to some Top 10 programs. I believe my experience and background is fairly competitive, however, I am worried that a Q44 (58%) will be a huge disadvantage.
These are all my scores from the past 4 years:
Sept 2010 - 530 (Q34, V28)
March 2013 - 560 (Q39, V28, IR6)
May 2014 - 650 (Q45, V35, IR4)
September 2014 - 670 (Q44, V38, IR8)
I would greatly appreciate your input.

Hi,
Your scores show continuous improvement which is great. This means that your study tactics seem to be working. With that being said it might be best to continue studying how you have been, as your next test score should break 700, as long as you kep seeing the same progress. I would not worry as much about the Q44 as I would worry about your Verbal score. Your quant seems to be pretty good so I would take this time to work on Verbal, It may be best for you to touch upon some verbal grammar basics for a few weeks before jumping back into your regular studies. Usually, just by going over the basics, this tends to give you a boost with the advanced verbal, as you may be missing a few basic concepts. I would say give yourself at least 2 months before retaking it. If you are aiming at top 10 business schools, then definitely retake and try to break that 700 mark. It may be best to step up your studies with an adaptive course. Have you taken one? One last point.. do not be hard on yourself as to how many simulation exams you take. While they do help increase your knowledge and comfortableness with the exam, their main purpose is to help you determine where your score is currently at (give or take + or - 30 points). You will see your best results from putting in time on coursework. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.
