Hey all,
I have been studying for months and I seem to be unable to raise my score. I took a practice test before studying I received a 540. I have spent months and months studying and only once did I do better during a practice test (590 q44 v28). I have gone through
magoosh, read some of the
MGMAT books, did the questions in the
OG, and had a tutor just for verbal. During my practice tests I saw my math stay about the same and I think I got better in CR) but I am still stuck. I don't know what else I can do. Just upsetting that no matter the difficulty of the questions I usually get ~50% of the math questions right. During the actual test I would say there were only 5 questions that I wasn't sure on for the Math. Its very annoying to put months and hundreds of hours in and not show any improvement.
Thanks
Hey random99,
Sounds like you did several hundred questions but are still not getting the results you want. At this point, I would recommend that you focus more on review --- rather than on taking on additional questions.
For questions that you have seen before --- would you be able to answer them quickly with 100% accuracy? If not, then there is work to be done in terms of actually making improvement and learning from your mistakes.
For the quant section, we recommend examining multiple variations off of the same core question type so you are prepared when the same kind of question is asked in a slightly different way.
The SC section is the easiest verbal section to make improvements on. Once you understand how to think and approach this question type, there are only so many ways you can be tested. Here at GMAT Pill we developed the 10 core frameworks which detail the 10 ways to approach GMAT sentence corrections.
Here is a sample video detailing one of the core frameworks:

Here is a video describing the visual framework approach:
