my First attempt to gmat was 540..after studying for 6 months.
Is it possible for me to improve and score above 650 in another 6 months ? i.e if i give my second attempt after 6 months?

I am no expert, but I was able to improve my score from 680 to 760 in 6 months. Spend time on your weaknesses. My quant was strong after the first round (I used Manhattan quant books during my studies for my first attempt). I only used e-gmat verbal online program for my second attempt, a program which improved my verbal from V28 to V42.
Anyways, it is a difficult journey but it is worth it.

There are some relevant details to your story that you haven't posted here, including your improvements thus far and the various aspects of your prior studies that were not handled in a realistic and test-like fashion. The short answer to your question is YES, you can certainly improve to a 650+ (and doing so could very well take less than 6 months). All of that is dependent on studying in the most practical and realistic manner possible though. If you don't make additional adjustments to how you're studying, then your score will not improve.
