This is the first time I’m writing on this forum, although I’m been reading many threads for the past months. I’ll make this short.

I took the Gmat 3 times and got 480, 530 (Q40, V22) and 580 (Q47, V23). The last time was only 2 days ago and I still failed horribly on the verbal section. As you can see from the last exam, my Quant is in the 70 percentile, while my verbal is only in the 31 percentile.

I need advice on how to improve my verbal, but before that I’ll explain my weaknesses.

I studied the entire Manhattan Gmat books 5 times already (except for the CR and RC which I only studied once and reviewed another because I didn’t think they helped much). I always have better results on SC, get half the CR right, and usually fail horribly on RC. I’m not a native English speaker and my essay is averaging a 5, so my English is not that bad.

I also got a 31 on verbal on a Gmat prep exam, but I think that all the pressure on the real exam clouds my concentration and analysis. If I could improve my verbal, I could get a 640 or higher, which is what I really need.

I only used Manhattan Gmat and OG13 to study for the Gmat. I want to ask you guys what other study materials are out there that could really help me improve my Verbal. And how can I improve my RC (besides starting to read, which I know is a must, although I really hate it).

Any suggestion? :)

Hi,

The only way to get a better score is to analyze your mistakes and try not making them again. This might need a professional assistance too. Attempt mock tests to understand the patterns.
You can try this: https://goo.gl/LT72yk

Hope this helps.

Thanks! But I already know in which sections I have more difficulties :)

If re-doing the same material again and again is not working for you, you know what you should do - try some different material or seek professional help.

Reading is paramount for RC and benefits CR too. Also, don't hate reading - read what you love to read about - cars/fashion/science whatever. Once you get into the habit, then you can switch over to other subjects.

Besides, I think you will find our RC and CR books helpful. They build strong basics and give lots of questions for practice. From your post, it doesn't look like your basic English is bad at all. I think you need to understand these question types better and then keep the test makers perspective in mind while attempting them. You could also consider some private tutoring for Verbal.
