Hi everyone,
This is my second post here, and I could really use some advice.
I just finished the GMAT and scored a 585, which was a bit of a disappointment since I was expecting closer to 610 (my average in practice mocks). The quant section was my weakest area at the 37th percentile.
I’m now working on applications for these programs:
- ESCP MiF
- ESCP MiM
- ESSEC MiM
- ESSEC MiF
- HEC Master in Economics and Finance
Here’s my dilemma: the Round 1 deadline for ESSEC and HEC is October 2nd, but the earliest retake date I could book is October 15th. That means if I wait to improve my score, I’ll need to apply in Round 2.
Should I go ahead and apply in Round 1 with my 585 (knowing the quant is weak, but more seats are available), or hold off, retake the test, and apply in Round 2 with what I expect will be around a 610? I don’t think I can go much higher than that, but I feel confident I can reach it.
For context, I would summarize my profile in the following way:
- Bachelor’s from ESADE with a good GPA
- Exchange semester at a target school in Europe
- Board member of a student association
- Two internships in VC and PE
- Summer 2024 volunteering project in Guatemala
- 90% scholarship for my bachelor’s programs
- Got a 100 on the TOEFL and have C2 level in Spanish and French
So my big question is: is it worth waiting for Round 2 just to add 20–30 points on the GMAT, or should I go for Round 1 with what I have?
Thanks a lot for your help!
