Hi guys,

I am totally confused!!! I have been preparing GMAT for almost 2 months now. Tomorrow I have my exam scheduled!! I thought I am ready to reach my target score of at least 650!

I just took the 2nd GMAT Prep, I got 560 (42 Q, 26V)? I am confused...

590 - 600 - 640 -670 (1st GMAT Prep, 47 Q, 35 V) -600 - 590 - 560 (the one just did),

The rest scores are from Manhatten cats, how come my scores went up then dropped like this???

Do you guys have experience that the variation could be so big? Shall I take it tomorrow?

please provide me some guidance!!!!! thank you!!

Update: I took the test on Friday, and got a disappointing 580 (Q:40, V:30) after 2 months of preparation! what is really disappointing was Q 40, normally I should be around 45. Although there is some 100 points improvement compared my 1st attempt (I got 480, Q:39 and V:18), mostly verbal though.

days before the test, I took CATS everyday (did 5 manhatten cats and 2 gmat pret cats), the scores however was first encouraging then it was just getting worse. I read if one take the cats every day for several consecutive days + i was studying and practicing as well, one might get a burn out which could potentially hurt the score? I hope it was the case, as after going through all manhatten books, problems in OG12, OG verbal & OG quant, I was really confident I definitely will get a 650 a least!!

Anyone had similar situation? Any suggestions? I am gonna retake again as my school will only accept min 650 score...PLEASE HELP ME! THANK YOU!

The most anyone can do is really go back and use a good error log >> figure out what the logical basis is behind correct answers or the reasoning to get there. I guess I can only suggest creating a longer, more comprehensive study plan and try again. Give it 4 months if 2 months wasn't enough with a thorough review of the basics, maybe that's the trick.

I'm not endorsing this or anything, but yesterday I also found this:
https://www.amazon.com/30-Day-GMAT-Succe ... 280&sr=8-3

Not sure if it 's worth it by any means (may not be at all), but it's $35 with shipping.

Sounds like you have drilled the CATs, but unfortunately CATs don't improve your score. CATs serve to take an assessment of your score. It is kind of looking at the gas gauge in your car. That will not fill it up, just tell you how full or empty it is.

Try circling back and use the error log, as well as get some resources to help with your core material. Sounds like you have all the books, its just a matter of drilling each of the problem type that you got wrong so that you recognize that problem type and don't make the same mistake on future tests.

good luck!

Hi,

You got 100 points improvement and it is not so bad. I agree with Humphy that CAT is no so useful for preparation. They are good to familiarize yourself with test conditions and practice time management/pressure. The best way to improve your score is to dive into your mistakes, dive as deep as you can to get concepts behind them. If you see you repeat mistakes again and again, it's an alert that you are doing something wrong.

Good luck!
