Thanks for reaching out to us. From an admissions perspective, I'm not sure it's worth a 5th year just to get the second major (a Physics minor already seems pretty impressive!). But to achieve that, plus advance your campus leadership, and add some internship experience, I think that would be worth it. Aside from looking for top academics, the deferred programs do like to see a track record of leadership and demonstrated potential in a professional setting.
Hi, I am currently a 4th year student at my undergrad college and plan on applying to deferred MBA programs (HBS 2+2).
I am considering staying for a 5th year but would like some input on this idea.
I will be finishing my bachelor's in Economics with a minor in Physics, at the end of this year.
I would like to work in the Tech industry and am considering staying for a 5th year to finish a second major- in Physics.
I currently have somewhat limited leadership growth and experience because I just started all of my leadership positions this semester (Fall).
This includes:
Boys and Girls Club Tutor
Civic Leader for "my school name" Responds
Budget Allocation Committee member
If I were to stay for another year, I would potentially be able to show a lot of growth in these experiences by becoming a coordinator for boys and girls club, and creating alternative spring break initiatives after Covid is hopefully over.
I unfortunately have no internship experience at the moment (somewhat due to Covid-19), and could possibly use this extra year to obtain an internship before applying to deferred MBA programs as well.
It would be a long process and am not sure if its worth the time, effort, and money so please let me know what you think!
(I am a first-generation student so I get a lot of money in financial aid anyways)
Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it!
