Well...I got 6.0 for my AWA...top percentile...does it mean anything?
I got in to the b-school I wanted, so it doesn't really matter anymore, but I'm just curious.
Thx

It could mean the difference between you and someone other person if it came down to 1 spot and 2 candidates. If you "tie" with the other person and the other person has a 4.5 AWA, they'd probably go with you and let it be a tie breaker. That's what peopel say, but I'm not 100% convinced of it, but it does sound like it's possible.

Also, it shows that you can write. It someone gets a 2.5 on their AWA but has amazingly written essays in their application packet, it might make them wonder if that applicant even wrote their own essays.

It doesn't matter a whole lot. For example, if you get a 6.0 on your essays but a 570 on your GMAT, you won't get in to more competitive schools.

Sadly, I speak from experience...retaking and reapplying is fun, isn't it?

I say no. Your AWA score is not horrible. It could be better, but write great essays and make sure they are yours. Don't let people edit style so much so that it's not what or how you would write them. You'll be fine.

I wouldn't take it again. actually, I didn't. I had 700 and 3.5 AWA.
still got into a pretty good school. it also will depend on your application essays.

I'm throwing this question up in the air.

What is better? 670 and a 6.0 AWA

Or 720 and a 4.0 AWA.

720/4.0

I agree with JAllen here. I know people who got into top schools with an AWA below a 5.
