6 workers need 12 days to finish a job i.e. work they accomplish is 6*12=72 mandays.

To accomplish the same job in 8 days will require 72/8=9 workers

i.e. 3 addtional workers

It is similar to something like:
1 person can build a house in 2 days
x people can build a house in 1 day

its 1*2/1 = 2 people.
Same here, 6*12/8 = 9 Men
