Hi GMAT fighters,
I've taken a test today (14 Oct) and got 720 (Q48/V40)
It's not a high score, but I'd like to share my story in case it can help you in some ways
My BackgroundI'm a 28 year-old Thai with my bachelor in finance and work experience in FMCG
I got lowest 1.65/4.00 from a normal high school with 2.78 when graduated
So my knowledge of high school math is very low (that's why I got Q48)
PreparationAll
FREE resources
1. gmatclub (special thanks to bunuel, carcass, bb on many invaluable topics)
2. youtube (mostly from veritas prep and dominate the gmat free lessons)
3. gmatpill (free sessions)
how long : 1 month start around Sep with 60 working hours a week
(surely, I was unable to finish all the free resources before today test)
Practice ExamGMAC 1 : 590 @ 26 Sep
GMAC 2 : 610 @ 13 Oct (Yesterday)Here is the most important part...
I got 720 or +110 from GMAC Practice Exam #2 I took just yesterday
What did I change on my strategy ?After seeing 610 on my computer screen yesterday, I felt really shocked and thought about rescheduling the exam. (Fortunately after I research for the criteria, test taker has to pay a fee of $250 to reschedule the exam within 7 days before the test date. So I cancel the plan.
)
My following thought was that life has to go on.
So I go to bunuel topic about how GMAT is scored.
https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-prep-so ... 46146.htmlLearning that first 10 questions are very important for the score, I decided to change my strategy.
For 2 practice exams, my strategy is to control the time for each question to be in average (like 2 mins for Quant and less than 2 mins for Verbal).
And that forced me to educatedly guess on some early questions that I was not sure but reached the time limit set by the strategy.
So I change the strategy to be very focus on first 10-20 questions although I spend more than average time.
And that works ! at least on this real test.
(but I did this together with thoroughly analyzed incorrect questions on practice exams)
I planned to take a real test on Oct,Nov,Dec and I think I still going to do it.
So my next action is to analyze my real score and find subjects to improve and complete all the free resources.
And if I can complete them before the last test, but it's not enough for my score to go up, I may consider to purchase a course.
So if anyone has any recommendations for my next tests, please throw them to me.
That's all, wish you all get your target score !
With Best Regards
