Hi all,
I took the exam today and scored a 620 (Q-47 & V-28).
My practice scores are as follows :-
GMAT Prep 1 - 710 (Q-48, V-38)
GMAT Prep 2 - 690 (Q-47, V-36)
Manhattan CAT 1 - 650 (Q-42, V-38)
I have no idea how i managed to bomb verbal. I plan to retake the test again in 10 days. What do you think i should do to improve my score especially in Verbal coz to be honest, i felt really confident while i was giving the test but screwed up in time management and had to guess the last 4 questions in Verbal.

To start, having to guess on the last 4 Verbal questions would not have been enough on its own to have caused your drop in Verbal Scaled Score. Also, since you took the GMAT today, you'll have to wait 16 days to take it again (so taking it in 10 days is not possible). Before you rush in to retake the GMAT, I'd like to know more about how you took these CATs...
When you took your CATs:
1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take them at home?
3) Did you take them at the same time of day as your Official GMAT?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
5) Did you ever take a CAT more than once?

Hi inderbajwa93,
First of all, you need to wait for a minimum of 16 days to retake the GMAT.
I would not recommend you to rush into taking the test. There can be a lot of factors that can contribute to the drop in score.
It would be better if you took a CAT first and see what score you get. Take the CAT in exactly the same way as you took the GMAT including the AWA and the IR and at the same time. You can get additional CATs on mba.com
Going by your CAT and GMAT scores, you can certainly gain some points in Quants too. So it would be better if you study for a month and then take the GMAT.
1. How long have you been studying for the GMAT?
2. Did you solve the Official Guide Questions?
3. Did you take the CATs including the AWA and IR?
