hi all,
i am a newbie to GMAT and gmatclub.
as far as the background is concerned, i am an engineer with almost 4 years of SAP consulting experience.
i have started preparing for GMAT two days ago.
as a part of advice given to me by my experienced friends, today i took a GMATprep practice test without any preparation to gauge my level and hence work upon the weak areas.
my score details are as under:-
total 620 (Q-50, V-25)
the detailed break up of the sub sections which i analyzed is as under:-
Quantitative Section (Attempted all, 9 incorrect)
Problem Solving (incorrect answers) = 4
Data Sufficiency (incorrect answers) = 5
Verbal Section (Attempted all, 17 incorrect)
Sentence Correction (incorrect answers) = 10
Critical Reasoning (incorrect answers) = 4
Reading Comprehension (incorrect answers) = 3
i have understood that the weak area for me, which requires extensive practice is Verbal Section.
i am planning to start with Manhattan Sentence correction for SC and 1000 SC, CR, RC files for the verbal practice.
for quantitative section i am planning to go through the OG12.
please suggest what else i should do to improve upon my verbal and quantitative scores.
any opinions and suggestions are welcome and would be really appreciated.

I would ignore the 1000 series as these are unlicensed GMAC questions (compilations of official guide questions).

Obviously, SC is the fire under toes for the verbal score. The Manhattan SC book should help.
Another tip is always be aware of what your are saying/writing/thinking. Many people do not think/write in proper written English, thus when he/she user his/her *ear* to solve the SC questions, the test taker will often find themselves selecting the wrong answer because, to this person, it *sounds* right.
