sorry to poke in between but i read ur post and thought it might help u to know :
ur Gmat is pretty good. Not excellent but hey, people with 780 too get a reject from harvard. If u wan, then take 1 1/2 months time and give ur test gain. in any case u have 650 to fall back on even if u score less in ur secnd attempt.
however if u dont wanna sit for ur gmat again then gear up for ur essays. believe me, ur essays will take atleast two months. try to make ur essays a masterpiece in itself. hey should shine bright. a good gmat proves that u'll be able to withstand the academic rigor of MBA. It is not a license to B-schools. if u can write very good essays, show clearity of thought, ur clear short and long term goals and distinguish urself through ur academic and past work exp then u have a fair deal of chance of gettin in the TOP 50 B-schools.
One more thing tht u can do is try applying early.(provided u are well prepared). the adcomm looks at the entier package and not just one aspect of the app.....
Now I know for sure tht Vanderbilt, Washington University in St.Louis are two universities that offer gracious scholarships to deserving /distinguished candidates.
Besides there are few schools tht have tied up with banks. And they(school) becomes a co-signer for international students. a lot of people I kow have taken the full amt in loans. But u'll have to check with the schools u are interested in since everyschool has its own policy...
plz ask if u have any questions...but dont be disheartened with a 650 its good score and u can surely get ito good schools (top 50) with it.
