manuelaguilar - In short, please do not worry about the IR score. Any score above 5 is considered good by business schools. You, however, have plenty of room to improve on the quant section and the good thing is that it's easier to improve the quant score than the verbal score. I shall send you a PM with a few recommendations. Also, a 650 score with 3 weeks of preparation is a great achievement; congratulations!

Thank you very much for your responses!
1) Did you take the At-home GMAT or did you take your GMAT at a Test Facility?
At home!
2) How many hours did you typically study each week?
At least 30 hours since I was studying full time.
3) What study materials have you used so far?
I did the veritas prep course with david newland.
4) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
I think I did a big mistake with the cats. I took one every day for 5 consequetive days before the exam. The first was a 680 with 47 in quant, the others ranged from 620-650. My verbal score almost always stays the same or improves, the quant section fluctuates from 36-47 a lot.
5) What application deadline(s) are you facing?
I want to apply on november first!

Hi Manuel,

With a November 1st deadline, you still have plenty of time to study and improve - and with a 650, you're closer to a 700+ than you probably realize. Based on your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores, the bulk of your study time going forward should be spent working on your Quant skills. Many Schools view an Applicant's Quant Scaled Score as an indicator of how that Applicant might handle the 'academic side' of the Program - and a Q42 won't impress anyone. That score implies that you did fairly well on most of the "math" questions that you saw on Test Day (so your overall math 'knowledge' is probably fine), but you made a number of little mistakes throughout the section and you missed out on LOTS of 'strategy-based' points. This is meant to say that by focusing on Quant Tactics, you'll be better able to increase your GMAT Score AND better impress how Admissions Officers will view your potential to handle their respective Programs.

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?
2) What "brands" of practice CATs/mocks have you used so far?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi Manuel!

650 with just 3 weeks of studying is a great score! Regarding what schools will see, if you did not cancel your 650 (which I do not think you did), and score higher on your next GMAT, then schools would see both of your GMAT scores. Unfortunately however, they do not take the best score from each section.

In any case, since your deadline is November 1st, if you can put in 4 to 6 weeks of additional prep, I think that you can make some improvements to your GMAT score. Of course, if you want some further advice on how to do so, feel free to reach out.

Daresay a 700 score with an IR 6 is better than a 650 with an IR 8
