Hello everybody! I'm new to the forum just done with my second gmat 770 49quant46 verbal 99 percentile. Here' how i did it hopefully it will help out some ppl! First exam i studied for about month with veritas material and since i'm not a native speaker came tonthe stats about 10 years ago i focused more on the verbal section. I found veritas prep material to be easier than the real thing sorta gave me a false sense of security after consistently getting around 700 on their cat exams. (Around 38 for verbal and 49 to 51 on quant) I was horrified after getting only 660 on the first gmat with only 31 on verbal granted i was a bit under the weather that day. I was emo for a while after that did not want to retake it after studying for so long but after calmed down i decided to try again in a month and focus on my weak points. I decided to try something different and went with
manhattan gmat material with the free cat exams included plus cr bible book which helped me tremendoualy as far as strategies go because imo gmat is all about leveraging information , process of elimination and making educated guesses when ur not sure. I did not drop math section completely however finished the whole
advanced quant from
mgmat it helped with my critic reasoning and timing even though my quant score did not improve from last time. I think a common misconception is that if you just do alot of problems you'll do well but i think its more important to take mental notes when you are reviewing the question you have gotten wrong and learn neat tricks to cut down time. Get better at number picking for sure it will help tremendously! So secons test day was at 8am i did not much sleep had to get some dunkin donuts coffee to stay awake but i was wide awake during test time. I would def recommend taking the breaks in between to stretch and get some water. During quant section i had to guess a few problems because i was constantly checking time by doing short mental math suvh as if theres 20 questions left i would need around 40 minutes and if encounter a hard problem thats going to be a time sink i would rather take an educated guess quickly. Finished quant with 2 mins left. Now onto verbal, i got stuck on first question for 3 mins so i was nervous right away but its important to remain calm, i will admit i did not get those scientific articles which im not as great at, and i got relatively easy sc and cr question to me. Did not guess anything for verbal part. After getting my score i was happy and relieved at the same time because i can now focus on other things! Hope it helps!
