I took the GMAT yesterday (71% Q, 90% V), and was unhappy with my score. I studied since Feb, took Kaplan, etc. These were my practice tests:
Diagnosic: 670
Kaplan 1: 680
Kaplan 2: 650
Kaplan 3: 630
Kaplan 4: 720
Kaplan 5: 660
Kaplan 6: 720
Kaplan 7: 730
Kaplan 8: 670
Pearson Prep 1: 710
Pearson Prep 2: 750 (Sat before test on Mon)
In addition to the KAPLAN materials, I used the quant OG book (the one with 300 quant questions only.
So every now and then, I'd bomb a practice test, but it was usually when I took the test later in the day, or otherwise ran myself down before the test. I took the real test at 8:00 AM, when I tend to score best.
Strange, though, when I was bombing a practice test, I could tell, but I really thought I was doing pretty well on the real one, ESPECIALLY in quant. I might have missed the worst possible questions from an algorithm standpoint.
I really thought I was well-prepared (based on my practice tests) and am not sure what happened. I didn't feel so nervous that I couldn't concentrate, and I thought everything was going pretty well. My problem is that I didn't THINK that I was bombing it, which makes me wonder if I'd do any better if I retook it. On the other hand, my practice scores lead me to believe I could do better...

I got 690 last December (ETS).
Retook it again this April (PV) got 690 again
!
I have decided against taking it and focus on the rest of the application instead.
