I do not know if I am Mensa caliber but I went from 550 to 710 and counting without ever taking a prep course or tutor. I always felt I was under-performing because I thought that my theoretical knowledge was good enough. It turned out that doing lots of problems, especially on this forum helps a lot. The great thing about this forum is that you can do a lot of problems that are issued by various prep companies, some of them even do this for the forum specifically. By taking advantage of the provided greater pool of problems as well as the accompanying explanations of people from various backgrounds, you will be given everything you need to do well on the GMAT.

Since you are near your goal, at this stage you want to focus on 700-level type of question (there is actually a tag for them on any sub-forum on this website). By studying these problems you will be challenged further, a step necessary for a test taker to consistently get his or hers top score. For example, when I downloaded 70 Brutal SC problems my hit rate was very low. But after reading explanations, somehow I started to perform a lot better on other type of SC, probably because I started paying attention to things I did not in the past. That's the idea.

So simply, if quant is your problem go to DS and PS sub-forums, select 700-level or 600-700 level tags so that only problems of those difficulties pop up. Do lots of problems, read all the explanations, and score high!

Good Luck! :-D

I also did self-study and was able to crack 700 (barely lol). I be 30+ when I start at Chicago Booth so it can be done. The questions on this site are a GREAT resource. I also used the MGMAT books and would recommend you do the same if you have the money. GOOD LUCK!
