Hi,
I have a GMAT score of 690 (Q48 V36) and am Indian by nationality. I will be applying for 2017 intake.
Work Experience (will have 4 years by 2017; more that 2 years work experience in Management Consulting and approx. 1 year 8 months as Automation Engineer)
1. Currently working as Associate Team Lead at a Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Management startup with clients across various sectors. Will have more than 2 years of work experience in this sector, when I join a B- School in 2017.
Leading projects as Project Manager for various corporate and leading not for profit clients: both multi national and Indian including Ericsson, Microsoft, Hexaware, Akshaya Patra, Oxfam Foundation, to name a few.
Client management, client relationship farming, renewal of contract and project management are my key responsibility.
Had a promotion just in 3 months of joining the company.
2. Previously worked as Automation Engineer in a multinational pharmaceutical company (1 year 8 months)
Academics
1. Graduated in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from a premier high ranked college in India (NIT Trichy- Ranked among the top 10 engineering colleges of the country)
CGPA- 7.72 (/10)
Secured more than 99 percentile to get an admission to the college.
Extra Curricular
1. Strong extra curricular activity: President of a college cultural club; Treasurer of annual cultural festival; Department captain of water polo team
2. Learning Spanish language (A1 level)
3. Member of Toast Master society
Will be grateful if you could advise me whether I will have good chance of getting in to any of the top schools such as INSEAD (most preferred), Kelloggs, Wharton, LBS amongst others. Also will really appreciate if you suggest some profile improvements.
Post MBA desired career in Management Consulting.

Sure thing; so you do have several strengths to your profile that will help you differentiate from the more typical Indian engineering applicants, such as the management consulting experience, promotions/recognition, solid grades, project management experience, client relationship experience, and extracurricular involvement. The GMAT is currently a weakness for the top schools you've mentioned; is re-taking an option?? Schools will take the highest score so I would highly recommend it, you never know until you give it another shot, and worse case you can cancel and cancellations are no longer reported as of 2015. With a bump in GMAT, and strong essays, story of why the MBA, connection with each school, good recommendations, and great interviews, then you could be considered at the top schools you've mentioned.
