I took the GMAT for the first time and scored a 690 (78% quant; 83% verbal). I am disappointed because I had been consistently scoring 700-720 in the previous two weeks, and there is something very psychological about seeing a 6-handle versus a 7-handle. I will likely re-take the test next month in the hope of a 20-30 point improvement. I was unable to finish the quant section of the exam and I usually scored in the +90% range for verbal in my practice exams...so I think an improvment is very possible.
My main question is what schools am I qualified for? Here are my stats:
Female
GMAT: 690 (re-taking)
GPA: 3.85
Undergrad: Top Public / Humanities Double Major / 1yr of Business Classes
Work: 3yrs at a Hedge Fund with leadership role
The thought of a large influx of applicants this year has made me very worried about my chances of getting into a top-tier school. In my mind, I've written off Harvard, Stanford and Wharton as unattainable. I'm currently thinking about applying to Columbia early decision...but I also don't want to shoot myself in the foot if I may be a good candidate for a Top 3 school. Any advice?
