Dear Friends
I took the test yesterday and scored 700 Q51 V34
The post heading says it all. Yes! I am relieved that the test is over, atleast I won't take it again this yr and will go ahead with my applications. and No! I am not happy with my performance. I am still bitter about how I messed up my verbal ... It feels as if I am getting stupid with age. I am feeling really scared about the skewness in my Q and V scores and I hope AdComs follow the golden rule of psychology "the whole is more than the sum of the parts"
~ Do adcoms look into individual Q/V scores closely?
Anyways here's My Test Experience
AWA:
Analysis of Arg: wasnt that tough. I had little preparation on AWA, just followed templates from Princeton Review. However explaining CRs in the forum in layman's language really helps when you write ur Anal of Arg essay. I was able to pump in 400+ words.
Analysis of Issue: I got a really abstract topic. It took me a while to figure out what to write. Managed to finish it just in time
Quant:
1st Q on mean, 3rd probability, Q6-Q11 all DS 3 from number theory these were the trickiest. There were some tough DS's on exponents and linear equation where on first glance the answer seems to be an obvious C but actually it was A or B (problems where there can be only one solution to a multivariate linear/exponent equation). The standard of questions I got was like a roller-coaster escalating between easy and tough Qs... 6-11 were tough then around 19-25 were tough as hell and finally 32-35 were killers all PS with loads of calculations!!! On the 34th question I guessed for the first time, it was a PS with some huge calculations. I knew it wud take me atleast 4 mins to solve it, so I made an intelligent guess and moved ahead. After Quant was over I was more or less confident to get 48+ as I solved the first 20 Qs with a lot of care and was confident about my answers.
Verb:
2SC 1CR 1SC 4RC(40 lines) 1SC 3CR(1BF) 2SC 2CR(1BF) 4RC(90lines) 4RC(85lines) .... this was the order in which I got the Qs and after the 85line RC everything passed like a blur ...
I was not far behind time until I reached the 90line RC which was on a really abstract topic. I knew that getting this RC correct was improtant and spent 12 mins behind it. When the 85 line RC followed back2back I was screwed! It threw my timing off and the misery escalated till the end of the test. I guessed from Q36-40. Here's some observations:
SC: Like OG and 885 ... the first few were shorter and easy to crack (in less than 1.5 mins) but all SCs that came after Q10 were long and had multiple errors.
RC: Questions were like OG. I got loads of inference questions. Got only one main purpose of the psg question. I am really p*ssed with the fact that they gave me 2 75+ lines RC which messed my timing and took off definitely 2 pts from my V score! I know many test-takers get max 1 long RC! God knows what algo ETS follows in these adaptive tests.
CR: This was the surprise package. They were definitely tougher than OG or ETS paper based tests. I strongly recommend LSAT CRs for GMAT preparation. I got 3 BFs (one came in the 1st 10 Qs and it was really tough. There were 3 choices that were so close to being the correct answer. I spent 4 mins behind it. In BFs make sure you understand the subtle differences between "fact" "principle" "premise" and "background". All BFs revolve around these words). I got 4 fill in the blank CRs as well.

This forum has been excellent and supportive. My special thanks to the following people for their help and support for the last few months:

Special thanks to the organizers of the site as well!
Well, that's all from my side .... If you have any questions feel free to ask me. I would be more than willing to help, but only after I get off the sick hangover from the excessive booze I had yesterday night
Good Luck and Best Wishes ...
