I gave my GMAt today and scored a 700. Right on the mark.
Thanks a lot for all your help. I owe a special thanks to everyone over here.....
You guys have been quite an inspiration in my journey to a 700 score.
I would say that even though 700 is a pretty solid score, I am a bit disappointed as I scored 760 and 710 in my GMAT preps.
I have been studying on and off for a while now. But due to my tremendous work pressure and family issues, I have not been that consistent.
So, here is my question to all the Gurus here, is 700 a good score?
Is there any difference in a 700 and a 740 or more, when it comes to Admissions in good colleges?
Regarding the GMAT, it was no diiferent than the GMAT preps. I had around 10 minutes left in Quant and 15 mins left in verbal.
I actually thought that I had aced the exam, but obviously I must have made a lot of mistakes which I did not realize.
The only piece of advise is just stick to the OG's and this forum

well, first, congrats on the 700.
GMAT is just one "filter" for the top schools. The margin of error is 40 points give-take. so technically, u would be in the 680-720 pool. if u have time, i would advise that u take it again.

Yes, there is a difference. For the top 15 schools, a 700 would be an average result for admitted students, while a 740 would be a point of strength. The official margin of error is actually 26 points (or rather it was last year).
If you are from a tough demographic (and I'm guessing you are based on your syntax), a 700 will be considered a marginally weak point when compared with others.
