Thanks people!

I am still thinking about when to retake (office work has piled up and will keep me busy for next 4 weeks easy). I'll update the thread when I have decided the retake date.

Vinay,
Congratulations on your score and good luck for your retake! I do have a question on E-Gmat SC course. how long does it take to finish and internalize it?

e-GMAT SC course is BRILLIANT! The duration for internalizing concepts depends on your current/starting proficiency. The course itself can be completed in ~2 weeks (with 2hrs per day and 4hrs per weekend effort) but this is really dedicated time and I would not recommend doing it in such a short time. But IMHO, you should spread this over 4 weeks atleast. There are around 200+ questions: in form of post-assessment quiz and separate exercises -> these exercises map to your concepts i.e. once you complete a level (the concepts are split over 3 levels), you can access the User Exercises for these concepts and based on your correct/incorrect response to these questions -> it will tell you your weakness and strength. I wanted to redo all exercises to really internalize the application but unfortunately, I just did not have those additional 2 weeks.
Insight: The best part about the course is to get access to some live session recordings in which you can hear Payal (the instructor) doing an SC problem live - this gives you insight about how to read a really long SC, what to focus on first and then how to go back and forth between starting and end parts (i.e. if there are relative clauses or modifiers complicating the sentence). I think this is priceless because I was struggling with how to approach long SC qs (those with like 3-4 clauses in-built). This is something you cant get from Ron's posts or videos yet (in those Thu sessions, you can only see him focusing on the incorrect part of sentence but not on how he will do that question if he was taking the GMAT and that qs popped up).

Congratulations Vinay. And good luck for your next attempt.

I have done Powerscore Bible. And you are right - it sure is a Bible. But I guess I am not one of those who can learn everything straight from the bible. (In fact literally I have always had problems understanding the religious scriptures). Can you suggest anything for me? I have heard that e-GMAT also has CR course. Do you think that would be beneficial?

What was your accuracy on GMAT Prep/MGMAT SC problems after finishing e-GMAT

After completing e-GMAT, I mainly did OG problems again and GMATPrep SC document. I could only do around 50 SC questions from GMATPrep and my accuracy was around 70-75% - so I was still getting quite some questions incorrect. Remember to go through the explanations of answer choices for all attempted questions - this takes a lot of time, hence, I could do only 50. Most of the GMATPrep questions (except the ones that are in OG) are difficult and quite representative of the real thing. I would say if you can complete the GMATprep SC questions with around 80-85% accuracy + within 1min 10s on average, then you are good to go for the real thing. Thats why, I recommend doing GMATPrep documents early so that you have time to master the application of concepts GMAT-style but again if you exhaust this you wont be able to use the GMATPrep CATs as "representation" of your score. This time I will solely focus on GMATPrep questions for practice (for Verbal). MGMAT SC questions in CATs are too mechanical in my opinion and not representative of the real thing.

About e-GMAT CR course, first - I was not able to complete the course as I only bought it mid-Sep or so. I bought it mainly to get access to some good questions and as a revision source for concepts (or theory). I could only do a few concept files but I must admit that I did learn a few new ideas on how to determine whether an answer choice is the correct one. If you are looking for guidance on how to apply the concepts (that you have read in Powerscore) then, this might be a good option for you as after each concept file, there are application files in which the instructor solves 4-5 problems explaining how it should have been approached and following step-by-step process. You can try the concept files that are available for free/trial.

For me, I think between an audio-visual course vs. reading from a book, I can grasp more from an audio-visual course because in it an instructor can emphasize certain aspects of problem solving, whereas in a book you need to judge how much emphasis you want to give to certain portion of text (not sure if this makes sense to all!).

Great score. I'm thinking that the combined Q and V scores needed for a 700 have dropped slightly too.. I don't care what the scaled score is at the end of the day..... the 200-800 is what matters most at the end!
