Hi,
When i do SCs alone, CRs alone and RCs alone. I get almost everything correct. I have been studying for a long time and have a good hold of concepts i believe. However, when i sit to take a test, i screw up. I can't get to go beyond 35 in verbal which isn't good according to my preparation. Please help. What should i do to improve my verbal? My quant is around 49-50 and if i do well in verbal, i can get a good score.
I dont even know what to concentrate on because i do really well when i do things individually.
Thanks for your time.
There could be a couple reasons that might seem irrelevant to you but can severely affect your verbal score. For example, if you worry about previous question(s), you are not directing your full attention to the current problem. Your working memory is thus limited and you cannot give your very best.
Another reason might be that you are not using the same approach when you do the whole exam as the one you were using during individual sections. For example, if you use T-diagram for the CR questions, and you used it in the CR testing, make sure you use it on the real thing. If you skip it, your score is likely to suffer.
Finally, I would recommend you to practice more. What helped me to go from 31 to 40V was doing a lot of practice on this forum. For example, I would open each verbal sub-topic (CR\RC\SC) on this forum, then I would use click on the 700-questions tag and solve the problems. If you adapt to hard questions, your score will improve greatly. Just make sure that you also time yourself and that you read explanations of other people. Those explanations will help you learn faster than usual. I found it useful to do 1 problem then immediately read the explanation and only then move to another problem.
Hope it helps!
