Thanks to all the people who put helpful posts up.
My experience.
Total prep time: 2.5 weeks - 2 full weekends of studying + studying each day after work + no drinking + .5 weekend of studying before the test on Monday (today). Really the only thing I allowed myself to do outside work and study was exercise. I think this is really important to clear the head.
The night before I was pretty nervous, got to bed early but woke up at least 10 times looking at the clock.
Got to the test center at 7:30 for 8:00 test.. Getting there early was good move because I and didn't have to wait very long, where the people who were later did. Also, you start your breaks earlier and don't have to worry about the proctor being busy with other people on break just before you.
I screwed up the math and had to guess on the last 5 questions. Really made me mad because I know I could have solved most of them. One or 2 questions really killed my time.
For verbal I felt good, some tough sentence corrections, but the passages were very easy to read.
I know I could improve my math but verbal would probably go down if I took again right now. To get in the upper 700's would probably require months of study that I don't want to do. I'm subscribing to the theory that all you need is 700+ for top schools as long as everthing else is good.
Breakdown
quant 47/78
verbal 41/92
total 710/92
More Advice:
• Check out where your respective bathroom is before the test starts. Breaks are short and you don't want to be looking around for it.
• Last minute studying most likely will not help. Having a fresh mind is 100 times more important than learning one new question.
• If you take a lot of space to do the math, ask for an extra noteboard after the essay. This is what I did and it definitely helped. You don't want to be asking during the test and loose valuable time.
Cheers!
