Today I did the GMAT for the third time and I finally got to 700.
I took the first one in February (620 Q47,V28). After this I did the
e gmat verbal course and it really, really helped.
Together with the
MGMAT guides I improved Verbal greatly. Then a month later in March I retook the exam with the expectation that I would have a chance to get 700.
Unfortunately, I got some, for me, really weird Quant questions and I also had problems with the time in Quant. The score was: 660 Q42, V39. Not a bad Verbal score for a non native I think.
This summer I gave it another shot and revisited all important Quant topics. I was a lot on this forum and read through about 100 Posts of Karishma's Blog. Today I took the exam and scored 710 Q49 V36. I'm very happy with the Quant score but a little disappointed with Verbal. I usually scored around 40 or even higher (once V 46 in GMAT prep). This marks the end of my GMAT journey. It was fun but at times a bit frustrating. Now with 710 and my very good GPA I think I have a good chance to get into the finance master of St. Gallen or that of HEC in Paris.
For all of those still fighting, I used the
MGMAT study guides and bought the
e gmat verbal course. The latter is pure gold. After finishing the course I had about 80-90% accuracy in SC and also improved CR. Thank you
e gmat! In RC I was always pretty solid. In Math I used the
MGMAT guides, which sufficed for me. Karishma's blog is extremely valuable and definitely played a part in my Q 49 score. I also want to thank this forum, which is a great place especially for Quant practice. Bunuel's sets and answers really get you thinking.
To quote Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear: On that bombshell, good luck to everybody still on the journey.
