All,
Hi Jason- don't be too hard on yourself- 710 for a first time is very good.
I just took my first test today. Got a 710. Feeling disappointed for sure because of my math showing.

The breakdown is the real issue - 44 math 41 verbal. If I had gotten a 710 with a better math score (like ~47) I would feel better (If this helps- while yes the math score at 47 would be better- overall it is still the total number that schools look at the most- and I say this as a former adcom)

The 44 in math is a little surprising, as I've been testing in between 45 (on here) and 47 (on the official GMAT practice exam).

I am pretty much only considering a top 10 school at this point, and wanted to get a third party perspective. However, I feel like I almost certainly have to take it again to bring up my math score. Thoughts?

I don't know any more about what pool you fall into- and in some cases I would say the 710 is enough to get you on the consideration list anywhere and in some cases I'd say you could go a bit higher to have better odds. But at 710, it is also riding on other things- like your work experience and why you want an MBA and why this school serves you. And this part is REALLY important and many people assume it is just GMAT driving things. It is not. So for the other parts we at Stratus can really help and if you want a free consult look to this link to sign up: https://stratusadmissionscounseling.com ... b-visitor/
I would challenge your statement that only a top 10 program is worthwhile. First of all, the "top 10" change and there are probably 15 schools who have floated in and out of top 10 in past 10 yrs. I would dig deeper to what you want to do post MBA and then see which of the top programs best match your needs. That is a far better way to look at the schools and will serve you better in the admissions process. Again- the link I provided can help you sort that out. Best wishes!

Well typically would need a bit more info to really provide feedback. GMAT scores are not evaluated in a vacuum but a 710 will have you at the bottom of the top 10 given the rest of your profile is checks off the requisite boxes. The top 5 schools at this point are hovering around a 730 so you will be out of range. If you want more exposure to programs in the top 10 I would suggest retaking
