Hi all,
Looking for others thoughts here... I did quite well on the GMAT with a total score of 720 (94th percentile); however, I did really bad on the IR section with a 3 (33rd percentile). I studied these questions and took numerous practice exams with them — never did this poor but I must have just flustered and made poor mistakes.
I’m looking to apply to UCLA, Berkeley, and similar level schools... I have 6 years of consumer insight (a data-based role) experience, including my current role at Disney, and my prior academic record was near 4.0 at a state university...
Looking for advise if I should be worried about my IR score and it potentially hurting my chances at the types of schools I’m looking to apply to?

Take a look at this video Nightblade did with Ross, Yale, and Fuqua AdCom directors last week asking about the importance of IR for AdCom
They are touching on the IR in the middle of the video (Starts at 31:30 into it. right when there is a tech glitch with the connection)
It is not an issue really and they can discount it if your other elements of the application are strong. IR is not reported in any of the rankings or school profile so schools don't really care all that much... so they can see it as a ref flag but if you have strong undergrad then they will just dismiss it as a fluke. That's my take on it... we have not seen any correlation information from anyone about IR and admissions... as always if you want to be sure, you can retake and that's the guarantee it won't be an issue.

First off, a 720 is an outstanding overall Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. Many Business Schools have publicly stated that they do not use an applicant's IR score when evaluating an application, so you likely have nothing to be concerned about with an IR3. However, if you're interested in what a specific School/Program thinks about the IR score, then you should research that School directly (you might also consider contacting the School to ask).
At this point, you might find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:
