Hi,
I took first GMAT in Oct 2013 and score 720 (Q51,V35). I retook the GMAT yesterday and was able to improve my score by just 10 points to 730(Q49V40). However my Quant score reduced to 49 (77 percentile). I would really appreciate if someone can advise on couple of points below
1) Will my new score actually have a negative effect on my application since my quant score has come to 77 percentile range and given the fact that B-schools place more emphasis on Quant than Verbal?
2) Should i reattempt GMAT to target 750 or more for better chances, considering I am planning to apply this year only in top 20 B-schools. Also given the fact that I fall in the category of India male engineer.
I would genuinely appreciate some advice here.
Thanks!
There isn't much difference between 730 and 750. A 790-800 will bring in a wow factor to the application so I do see a point in targeting that. Else, you might be better off putting in your energy into the essays.
A Q49 is absolutely acceptable, no problem. Only if a specific program of a specific school asks for Q50/51, then it may be a problem, otherwise it's about 80 percentile which is fine.
