Good job dude. Sounds like we had similar experiences. I focused more on SC to pull up my V-score. Could have done better in Quant - really messed up on 2 questions and screwed up my pace. Had to blindly guess the last 2 questions without even reading them. I overshot my break by 2 mins too before the Verbal section - did not time my break. So started off jittery with verbal, but was able to get back on track and actually finished with 2 mins left on the clock. SC prep really helped me, and that is what pulled me through Verbal.

Anyway, good luck on your apps.

Similar Story - Same result

After the first attempt (670:Q50 V30) in June 2008 and tough times at job, I could only restart preparing in September 2009. Read the verbal notes from Manhattan GMAT. The online coaching material for SC helped to pace 1 minute for SC problems. Quant and DS revision from OG11 was more than sufficient.

Here is the progression of my scores (Dont recall the first three. )

GMATPrep CAT #2 -------- 600 (Q-bad, V-very bad)
<Attended Manhattan online session for pacing SC problems>
--5 days of preparation--
MGMAT CAT#1 ------------ 690 (Q-bad, V-decent)
<Read economist weekly edition>
--2 days of preparation--
GMATPrep CAT #1 -------- 690 (Q-bad, V40)
<Started revising Quant and DS first time after an year>
--5 days of preparation--
MGMAT CAT#2 ------------ 690 (Q42 V40)
<Feel more confident after practising quant a bit more>
--1 day of preparation--
GMATPrep CAT#2 Repeat -- 660 (Q50 V29)
<Confused and disappointed. Last year real GMAT was Q50 V30. Thought for a moment that I can't really do any better. But the thought didn't stop me from practicing the verbal section. Revised the entire set of SC problems of OG12>
--2 days of preparation--
MGMAT CAT#3 ------------ 680 (Q48 V35)
<Analysed all the mock tests of Manhattan. Their review material is awesome>
--1 day of preparation--
GMATPrep CAT#1 Repeat -- 700 (Q49 V35)
<Booked the actual GMAT date for next day. Would not recommend this to anyone. But I knew from within that I am better prepared than the current performance.>
--Next day--
REAL GMAT --------------- 720 (Q50 V36)
<Mission accomplished. Though i got very jittery in the exam. Upset stomach on exam morning didn't help either. Had to use restroom 3 times during the breaks and started the quant section after 1 minute of scheduled start. Though rushed through the quant section and completed the within 63 minutes. Wasn't able to wait for the verbal. Took the break immediately.>

My advise for the exam day. During the mock tests, please time your breaks as well - get the firsthand feeling of what is meant by a strict 8 minutes break between sections. Please spare 1 minute for logging out and logging back in.

Good Luck Folks!!
