It is not exactly debrief as I may retake the exam due to low IR 4 score. This topic is more about how verbal section is different from GMAT prep and how that hurt my score 20-30 points. My GMAT preps were in 740-50 range with high CR score.
Now about the verbal of real GMAT.
1)It is nothing like
OG for at least CR section.
I used to get 95% accuracy in
OG (both main and verbal) in CR section. So,I almost did not do any formal preparation. Even in GMAT prep, accuracy was about (90-100%). But real day test experience was very different. Almost all questions had 2 very close options and not straight forward at all like
OG. I would say even they were better than LSAT(Apart from those formal logic questions). If anything,I would say question was similar to that of medium-hard questions from Manhattan mock test series(especially trap options).
So,practice as many difficult questions you can and mark why the 2nd best answer was wrong and do not judge your ability from
OG or GMATprep for CR.
2) SC and RC: I would say both are a notch above GMATprep in putting trap options.
SC was more about short tricky sentences than long complicated questions typically seen in OGs.
Another advice to future test takers:
Make sure you get new markers when you take the exam and keep the cap closed when you do not use it. My markers made me waste of 3-5 mins in IR section.
