Hi everyone - this is my first post but I have been looking around it for the last month or so. The site is great and really useful; I have looked at other member's previous challenges and the GMAT study plan.
OK, basically I am in my final year at university and looking to do an Msc Finance at a decent business school: Oxford Said, LSE, Bocconi, Imperial etc
I am looking to take the GMAT in mid-December so I can have the application submitted for January rounds. I was hoping to study for the GMAT through the summer but I had summer work placement which was intense.
I am looking at putting 20hrs a week for the first 5 weeks and then around 30+hrs for the next 4 weeks. This should give me over 200hrs of studying, if I can fit more in some weeks I will try.
It seems a little ambitious/stupid to just state a score I want to achieve without actually taking a practice exam but it is around the boundary of where I need to hit - ideally mid-700s would be perfect!!
I completed A-Level maths in 2006, then took a year out before starting university. Despite studying a Finance based degree I have not encountered much mathematics but definitely favour the quant side to verbal.
All I have purchased is the official GMAT review book and looked at the structure and questions within it. I took the prep exam for the quant exam and scored a 20 and 19 out of 24 for both (without any revision of any maths). I think with some studying they can both be around 22ish
(Apologies for the essay) I have looked at the recommended reading for the GMAT but was just looking for some more specialized/specific recommendations in terms of studying and practising the higher end maths questions whilst not neglecting the basics. For the Verbal again I feel I will be fairly strong but would like to know the best textbooks to buy if looking at 720+ score.
Thank you for any advice and help (first job of mine tomorrow is to a full prep test, so I can have a full score on which to start from)
