I didnt prepare much for GMAT, I started preparing after 20th Nov. But I concentrated on verbal, and for quant I made it a point to cross check each question (no matter how easy it is).
I practiced from Kaplan 800 and Kaplan 2006, and took a couple of tests. 
And one week before the Exam, I took leave from office and gave a test everyday at the scheduled test time.
SC and CR tips on this group helped a lot
There is document on SC on this group contributed by Sumit; the document has been very helpful


I didnt get a good score in Verbal, and the reason is that -

I didnt practice for RC
And preparation time was less; at least one more month was required

But finally it is done and I am satisfied with the score
