Hi everyone,
Its been quite a roller-coaster journey since I started my GMAT preparations full of struggles, failures and insecurities but then end result makes all the hardships worthwhile, or atleast more bearable

For me its difficult to sum my entire preparation in terms of number of hours or days. Last year I took my first GMAT on 21st Aug'14 and scored 660 (49Q,31V). It dented my confidence and put my application plans off-course. It was more of a rushed decision with only a few weeks of preparation at best, since I didnt have much time left for my applications. I realised I didnt really grasped the depth of knowledge and practise required to excel in GMAT. Moreover with full-time banking job I was hardly left with much time and energy to study. A few things that I believe I learned from my attempt were -
1) A few good mock scores can give you false sense of belief/confidence regarding your preparation. Infact in my first Gmat Prep exam I scored 720 with hardly a few days of study. It gave me a hope that no matter what, even with current level of prep and with added focus and exam temperament I can score a min 720, if not more.
2) Start early, if you do not pick up the reigns and decide your date now then later on the shortage of time and deadlines will force you to pick an unfavourable one. It will only add to your anxiety. Moreover guys, remember you can anyways re-schedule your date a week prior for $50. As someone rightly said, registering for your exam and getting the exam confirmation mail instills in you a sense or urgency. In fact for my second attempt I had put a copy of the registration and payment details on my desktop background for constant reminder.
3) Do not neglect your quant. If you are good/confident in your quant ability it becomes even more important to rock your quant paper and not give up on even a single point. When the scores are out, a 49 or 50 in quant will hurt much more than a lower verbal score because a 51Q was rightfully yours and with much less effort you could have made that added difference.
Sorry guys, need to leave for office now. Will complete the remainder of post soon.
Do leave your feedback. Let me know if the post is getting too long, will trim it down
