Hi,
I have just written GMAT, and I received a total score of 740.
However, my Quant is on the lower end (48; only 67th percentile), with a strong verbal (42; 96th percentile) and IR (8; 91st percentile)
I aim to apply to top-notch Finance (Oxford, MIT, Princeton) or Management (LBS Double degree w/Fudan, Bocconi Double degree w/ ESSEC) masters programs- still undecided which path to choose though. I was wondering what my application chances would be.
Could you please share your experience or comments about the chance of getting into such programs with similar scores?
Any insights are highly appreciated
Thanks in advance!
Hey
don02,
Usually management schools look at the overall GMAT score and 740 is a pretty good overall score. That said, If you are applying to a finance or analytics course they are more focused towards the quant score.
As for your targeted degrees, LBS double degree and the Bocconi Double degree would not be a problem for you as such, but the Oxford and MIT MFE program is very analytic, so I would suggest that you email them with your score beforehand to check for eligibility.
Couple this with your resume where you highlight your quant exposure, any work done, projects, classroom teaching or research papers to showcase your strong understanding of the same and you might have a good chance at these programs too.
Though at last, a lot of things will depend on your application and how you showcase your understanding of quant over the course of your study, internships and work experience. Thus, a well-prepared application will make this work for you.
Hope this helps.
