I would retake the exam because of the sub-par AWA score. Even if you do get a lower total score, as long as you get at least a 5 on AWA the adcom will not question your ability to write in English and will use the higher score in their admission decision anyway. This does not apply if you are a native speaker. If you are a native speaker and have a decent college GPA, don't worry about AWA.

Your IR score is fine.

Hey guys,

Here is my score for my only exam taken to date. I could not believe my IR and AWA scores, which practically ruined the 760 for me.

760: Q49 V45 IR6 AWA4.

Should I retake because of IR 6 and AWA4???

I am planning on applying to top 5 schools only and now I'm really worried this will affect how adcoms see me.

Any input from you guys would help!!!

Hi
Congrats on a great score in the GMAT.
An IR score of 6 is good and will not effect your overall assessment.
There is no need for a retake. You should start working on your applications.
All the best.
