Several months -- I started back in May/June just kind of lightly starting to look at questions. I finally had to draw a line in the sand and set the date -- else I could've just kept "Lightly looking" forever.

Best of luck!

just wondering how many permutation/combination questions you actually saw on the test. I've heard that no more than 1 or 2 show up, yet people stress a ton over them.

Also, did you use any prep courses? Or do you think OG11 is sufficient?

I had one combo/permutation on the actual test that I found quite easy -- largely due to the 20 or so perm/comb problems I did.

I did not take any courses or anything. Some of my colleagues have and have had mixed emotions. I decided to try it alone first (and glad I did). The OG11 and the GMATPrep software were sufficient IMO.

Thanks, another quick Question:

Did you take notes for RC and CR? Manhattan GMAT recommends it but I don't think it's worth the time required to write.
What was your RC and CR approach?

For reading comps I read the entire passage up front -- did not take any notes. Then those 3 - 4 questions went fairly quickly.

One thing that I did do (and found quite helpful) for the verbal section as to mark A B C D E on the notepad for each question, crossing off the answer choices as I eliminated them in my mind. This made it a lot easier for me.

No real approach to the critical reasoning stuff -- it was always very straightforward in my mind.
