Hello everyone,
I've had a long history with GMAT (started back in 2017 with a 700 and now finally a 780 in 2020).
Score breakdown below -
Total - 780
Quant - 49
Verbal - 51
IR - 5
Ironically, in my previous attempts at GMAT - I struggled with Verbal, however my IR was always an 8. I however managed to screw my IR this time (I'm sure this would be partly my fault and rest my proctor's). The chat window during GMAT online wasn't working for me (however the audio was). And my proctor landed up trying to communicate with me during my IR section using the dysfunctional chat window - which obviously got me a little tensed and I landed up easily loosing the first 2-3 minutes in the IR section trying to communicate with my proctor.
Eitherways - I'm almost tempted to give another attempt at GMAT in center as soon as I can for the following two reasons (and I'd love thoughts from experts in the forum on whether this is worth the effort)?
1) I'm planning to apply in the next 1-2 years (and not this year), and I'm still not sure whether MBA schools in US/Europe will still be accepting GMAT online scores then? What do you think are the chances that online GMAT scores will continue being accepted across most top US/European MBA schools in the next 1-2 years?
2) I can't believe I screwed up my IR. But how big of a deal breaker is it to get a 5/8 on IR (which is basically a 50 percentile)?
Ofcourse, there is the catch that it is really difficult to get a GMAT center appointment (I'm based in Chicago and I see very few options). I can't conclude this post without thanking all the experts on this forum (Just to name two such experts I've interacted with personally -
egmat, @EducationAisle)! Learnt a lot from this forum, and I'm happy to add a more detailed debrief later. Thank you!
