1) GMAT Club is a goldmine.There are
thousands of free Quant, Verbal, and Data Insights questions here. If you use them efficiently (topic-wise + timed practice), you can cover nearly every GMAT question type without spending extra.
I wish I knew this sooner — I could’ve avoided hunting for random resources.
2) Mocks are not optional.Take them regularly — but more importantly,
review your mistakes. GMAT isn’t just about solving questions, it’s about solving them in the given time frame.
3) Time yourself on every question.- Data Insights: ~2.5 minutes
- Quant: ~2 minutes
- Verbal: ~90 seconds
Adjust for difficulty, but build the pacing reflex early. Untimed practice gives false confidence.
4) Quant ≠ Math classIt’s more about
problem solving than formulas and calculations . You dont need to learn every single formula to be able to solve the questions.
5) For Verbal, don’t rush to the options.Read and understand the passage first,
then look at the question. This single change improved my accuracy instantly.
6) Pace yourself strategically.Top scorers don’t try to be perfect on every question. They make smart guesses on time-sink questions and move on.
7) Track your weaknesses.log what keeps tripping you up.
8) Apply from Day 1.Don’t wait to “finish the syllabus” before practicing.
