We can solve this question by the backsolving method also.
In answer choices, we are given 3 different values 120/17, 120/7, and 120/13. The least value among these is 120/17. So we can get rid of the answer choice E
From our answer choices, 120/17 is the value of either A or B
When the value of Work is one then work rate and time are reciprocal of each other.
From question stem, we also know that
A and B together complete a work in 4 days
So their combined work rate will be 1/4
Now the reciprocal of answer choices is the individual rate.
So we substitute the values for A and B from the answer choices and whichever option gives us a result of 1/4 will be the correct value. Using that we will know 120/17 is the value of A and 120/13 is the value for B
So the answer will be A
This question can be solved quickly using this method. I didn't realize to use it when I started to solve the question. After I got the answer then I realized I could have solved it this way and would have saved time.
IMO answer will be A
